wicked important to realize how patriarchy values whiteness, and the consequences that has on communities of color. i always feel uncomfortable when white people start pointing their fingers “well look at how sexist that hip hop (black) music is!!!” for the reasons this post elaborates on and because i feel like those people never really examine the misogynist tendencies in their own life and in the institutions in which they participate almost as a means of scapegoating as if “misogyny is really a problem in THEIR community and is not as bad in our community” and thus avoiding to have to question their own sexism, along with never examining the roots of misogyny in hip hop culture.
